Read from Serre

From the interview of Serre (pdf downloadable from the wikipedia page of his)

enlightenment.

1. How to do things?

Find the question you are interested, or read good papers and ask the
questions, then learn the relevant materials. Usually it's not that
much to learn once you know which question you want to solve. Start
from one point, focus and build up from it, then you can do some
wonderful things. One person should not aimed at knowing everything
and it is generally hopeless to do so.

Learning by working on it and doing it is the most effective way.

2. How does he think?

He liked to work at night when he don't need to write it down and
change the topic, and then he could find a solution or a hint. The
point is keep thinking about it and working on it without worries.
Chance will give you a lot of good opportunity to come up with good
ideas.

3. Everyone has to learn to know, and it is a process.

No one really learn fast ,but as a good mathematician, once they know
something to learn, they really read and think and the accumulate.

The most important thing is that keep thinking and reading the
relevant stuff to keep knowing the good results.
